Joey Kwong’s submission of no case to answer accepted in Conspiracy re-trial

Joey Kwong defended re-trial of Conspiracy To Assist In Unlawful Immigration at Canterbury Crown Court.

After a jury was unable to reach a verdict at his first trial, the client instructed new solicitors to defend his re-trial.

At the re-trial, the Crown adduced agreed phone evidence from all 5 alleged conspirators, as well as CCTV, bank statements and other documentary evidence. The officer in the case was cross-examined on alternative inferences that could be drawn from the evidence.  Following written and oral submissions of no case to answer, which were opposed by the Crown, the judge directed the jury return a verdict of not guilty.

Joey Kwong was instructed by Mr Simon Morton of Morton's solicitors.
