Mr Sharma was indicted on one count of Attempted Murder of his ex-partner. The Crown case was Mr Sharma invited her back to his house, whereupon he tried to stab her so hard his knife broke, before chasing her downstairs and strangling her whilst threatening to kill both her and himself. At PTPH, the Crown made clear no other pleas were acceptable and this matter was adjourned for trial. Joey continued to negotiate with the Crown. This resulted in the Crown eventually accepting a lesser plea. After Joey mitigated on his behalf, Mr Sharma was sentenced to 4 years 1 month’s imprisonment.
