On Wednesday 27 2023, 9BR Chambers held the lecture ‘Andrew Malkinson - What went right and what went wrong’.
Presented by Max Hardy (junior counsel for Andrew Malkinson) and James Burley (investigator for APPEAL), the lecture was a discussion about the investigation, trial and appeal arising from the 2004 wrongful conviction of Andrew Malkinson. It considered what caused the conviction, what prevented a timely correction and what was required to have the conviction quashed.
We hope that this case and this conference will encourage the justice system to make the necessary changes to prevent this type of case from happening again.
