The defendant was a director of a lift maintenance company who undertook subcontracted work for the Royal Borough of Greenwich. In an investigation and prosecution which lasted over five years, the Royal Borough of Greenwich alleged that the works undertaken to their lift stocks were unnecessary or never carried out by the defendant over seven years between 2010 and 2017 at a cost of over 1 million pounds.
Following a two-week trial before the Woolwich Crown Court, the jury acquitted the defendant. Lisa French of Foxes Solicitors instructed Ruth and Emma.
